Matt and Kim (aka Matt Johnson and Kim Schifino) released a new album, Almost Everyday, in May via FADER Label. Now they have announced some new September tour dates. Check them out below, followed by the video for the album’s lead single “Forever.”
Almost Everyday is the band’s sixth album and first one in three years. Johnson co-produced the album with Lars Stalfors. It follows an onstage injury Schifino suffered in Mexico, where she tore her ACL and the band took a year off from touring, their longest break from the road since forming. A previous press release said the band “used the time during Kim’s extensive recovery to create one of their most personal albums to date, with writing beginning just one week after Kim’s surgery.”
Johnson had this to say about the album in the press release: “2017 was not a great year for us. Kim got real depressed during her recovery, and anyone who knows Kim (or has seen her play) knows she’s such a bad-ass upbeat person so it was hard. Then of course almost everyday it seemed like there was another terrible headline. I feel since the beginning of music people have used writing songs as a form of therapy, but I’m not sure we ever really did…until 2017. With a song like ‘Forever’ it felt really good to get stuff off our chest. While the chorus may seem harsh…I think the verses are a rally cry to pull together and just overcome all the bullsh*t.”
“Forever” features additional production from Flosstradamus and guest vocals from Mark Hoppus and SWMRS.
