Metric Announce New Album, “Synthetica”
Due Out June 12

Metric
After their last album Fantasies helped them become the first artist in history to achieve a Top 20 hit on U.S. commercial radio without the backing of a traditional label, and working with filmmakers such as Edgar Wright and David Cronenberg, Metric has announced that they will be releasing their fifth, full-length studio album Synthetica on June 12. Produced by Jimmy Shaw, the titled stems from singer Emily Haines envisioning herself as a female replicant from Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, who voices an inner monologue of all her human imperfections. “If you imagine a nightmarishly fake version of me as a pop star, that’s her,” says Haines in a press release. “And this record was about me saying, I’m going to give more to the music than ever, but there’s no way I’m going to turn into someone like that.”
