Metronomy have announced a new album and shared its first single. Summer 08 is due out July 1 and the first single is “Old Skool,” which features scratching from Beastie Boys’ Mix Master Mike. Annie Mac debuted the song on her BBC Radio 1 show today and also interviewed frontman/main creative force Joseph Mount about the new album, which is the follow-up to 2014’s Love Letters. You can listen to the song and interview below.
Mount says he recorded most of the album over the course of two weeks last year and joked that the summer of 2008 is the last summer he had off, hence the album title. He also said there was no current plans to tour the album and that the rest of the band was off doing their own thing.
