Middle Kids Share a Video for New Song “On My Knees”

Middle Kids are a new Australian band that are signed to Domino. They released their self-titled debut EP via the label in February of last year and are releasing their debut album, Lost Friends, on May 4. Previously they shared a video for its first single, “Mistake” (which was one of our Songs of the Week). Now they have shared another song from the album, “On My Knees,” via a video that features various people dancing and doing other talents as they audition for something. Watch it below, followed by the band’s upcoming tour dates.

The band issued this statement about the song in a press release: “‘On My Knees’ is about rejecting the value system of the individual as the prime unit of society. It’s also about how suffering and disappointment can help change our perspective in a healthy way. When we stop focus on ‘winning’ and can submit to something bigger, or to each other, we are better people.”

Frontwoman Hannah Joy had this to say about the album in a previous press release: “In a time where a lot of division is growing, we want to be part of the conversation that unites people around certain ideals that are universal, like hope and love. That’s so much a thread throughout this album: Even though things are tough, it’s worth believing in something good and in the idea that we can heal. And in some ways, I wanted the music to be beautiful and a respite from what’s going on.”
