Modest Mouse Reissue ‘The Moon & Antarctica’ for Record Store Day
10th Anniversary Pressing from 2004 Master

Record Store Day
Modest Mouse‘s 2000 major-label debut, The Moon & Antarctica is one of our favorite records from the 2000s, and now it’s getting a proper vinyl reissue for its 10th anniversary. It’s been out of print on the format for quite awhile.
Epic/Legacy are handling the reissue and the set is expected to drop April 17th for Record Store Day. The remastering engineers used the Pac NW band’s preferred 2004 master, so expect a sharper and clearer mix. The release also sports the original tracklisting, without the silly extras from the seminal record’s 2004 “expanded edition.” On top of that, fans can expect the original LP’s cloudy hand-shake art and that locked groove at the end of the first side to return.

This is a very interesting find indeed. I will have to check it out when I get the time though. Thanks for the nice tip.

Modest Mouse released The Fruit That Ate Itself in 1997; its follow-up from later that year, The Lonesome Crowded West, was the band’s breakthrough, and in the wake of a major-label bidding war, they signed to Sony.
