Musicians and Actors React to the Passing of Lou Reed
Passed Away Earlier Today at Age 71
Oct 27, 2013 Lou Reed
Legendary singer/guitarist Lou Reed passed away earlier today (Sunday, October 27, 2013). According to various reports, including CNN, Reed had a liver transplant in May, which may have been a factor.
Reed and John Cale formed The Velvet Underground in 1964 and Andy Warhol managed the band. 1967’s The Velvet Underground & Nico is one the most acclaimed and influential rock albums of all time. Reed also had a successful solo career, including 1972’s classic Transformer, which featured “Perfect Day,” “Walk on the Wild Side,” and “Satellite of Love.” He is survived by his wife, musician/artist Laurie Anderson.
Many musicians, actors, writers, directors, and other artists have reacted to his passing. Here are various Lou Reed-related Twitter posts from today:
“The world has lost a fine songwriter and poet…I’ve lost my ‘school-yard buddy’ - john cale” http://t.co/8MZMNhkzvf
