Nada Surf has announced their seventh album, The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy, which is due January 24 via Barsuk Records. This is their first record of new music in four years. They will be playing a day of release show (January 24) at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC. Chris Shaw, who’s worked with Wilco and Super Furry Animals, produced Nada Surf’s hit song “Always Love,” and produced and recorded this album as well.

Frontman Matthew Caws stated in a press release, “Making this album was such a joy, the most fun we’ve had with a record. For many years I’d only write if I had something troubling going on in my life and I needed to break through, but now I wanted to get past writing about just myself. That new outlook, for me, is the engine for making this record.”
