Some 15 years since their last live performance, Neutral Milk Hotel have announced that they will reunite for a select number of tour dates set to take place this fall. With just five shows currently planned (two of which will take place in the band’s hometown of Athens, Ga.) with “more to come,” according to the group’s website, the performances will commence this October.

On hiatus since releasing their revered 1998 album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, Neutral Milk Hotel was once thought to gone for good, particularly when the band’s frontman Jeff Mangum became indie music’s equivalent to J.D. Salinger, becoming an increasingly reclusive figure. Over the past two years however, Mangum has begun showing signs of new life, embarking a number of solo tours and even making appearances at larger music festivals.

According to Pitchfork the new touring line-up will consist of Mangum, Scott Spillane, Julian Koster, and Jeremy Barnes, all of whom first came together following the release of On Avery Island in 1996.
