Monsters of Folk
With a tour supporting their debut album nearly behind them, the supergroup Monsters of Folk has released a video for the album’s first single, “Say Please,” as posted in this Pitchfork item. The video, perhaps appropriately, captures the band’s appropriation of a handful of styles and backgrounds while referencing the somewhat meditative nature of the lyrics as we watch Jim James, M. Ward and Mike Mogis in combat gear descend upon Conor Oberst at some good old-fashioned hoe down…which eventually leads to rocking and roller skating (?). I suppose a music video doesn’t really require interpretation.
