Django Django, Jessie Ware, Richard Hawley, alt-J, Field Music are among the names announced as part of this year’s nominees for the Mercury Prize. Given out each year since 1992, the Mercury Prize is given to the best album released by a British artist. Previous winners have included Pulp, Portishead, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, The xx, Elbow, and PJ Harvey. A full list of this year’s nominees can be found below. In addition to simply the award, a £20,000 cash prize is also given to the winner.
