Pop-jazz pianist and chanteuse Norah Jones will release her fourth studio album this November on Blue Note records. Using the untitled album as a chance for musical experimentation, Jones enlisted songwriting assistance from both Ryan Adams and Okkervil River’s Will Sheff. Adding some production umph is Jacquire King—who has previously worked with Tom Waits and Modest Mouse.
In addition to the high-profile help, this album also features a new backing band. Says Jones—via press-release—of the change, “We’re all still friendly and I hope we play together again, but it felt like a good time to work with new people and experiment with different sounds.” Also adding to the new sound—Jones mainly plays guitar. A surprise to fans unfamiliar with her rock-driven side-project, El Madmo—Jones reveals, “I actually write more on guitar than I do on piano…. It just felt more natural for me to play it on these songs.”
