NPR Streams Buddy Holly Compilation
Rave On Buddy Holly Drops June 28
Jun 20, 2011 Lou Reed
NPR is streaming a bunch of new albums today, including the star-studded Buddy Holly tribute, Rave On Buddy Holly. The compilation includes 19 of Holly’s greatest songs, including “It’s So Easy” (covered by Paul McCartney), “Everyday” (Fiona Apple and Jon Brion), “Not Fade Away” (Florence + The Machine), and “Oh Boy” (She & Him, which was previously released as a single, as well as The Black Keys’ “Dearest”). Patti Smith, Lou Reed, Modest Mouse, My Morning Jacket, Cee-Lo Green and a slew of other notable artists also take on the classics of the Godfather of Rock and Roll, who died an untimely death in 1959 at the age of 22. Rave on, Buddy Holly, rave on.
The album is available for streaming here, courtesy of NPR.
