Because there’s no such thing as rest in of Montreal land, today the Athens, Georgia collective announced a box set and a new album. Sheesh…sleep much?
The new box set features all of of Montreal’s past discography, on tape, in a an actual box (that’s it, above). Limited to 500 pieces, fans can preorder it here. Act fast—on September 19 the price goes up to $100. Check out the box set list below.
And then there’s word of the new album. As bandleader Kevin Barnes revealed to Pitchfork, “The new of Montreal album is bit more esoteric, and it’s probably not something everybody’s going to like. The songs are way more intimate and confessional.” He goes on to list “Penderecki, Charles and Ives, Ligeti” as influences.
