of Montreal Detail New Album, “Aureate Gloom”

Following last year’s lousy with sylvianbriar of Montreal frontman Kevin Barnes recently revealed that the band’s follow-up Aureate Gloom would soon see the light of day. Today the group has officially provided details of the forthcoming LP, which will come out March 3 on Polyvinyl. “I was going through a very stormy period in my life and felt like I was just completely trashed,” says Barnes in a press release, describing the development of the record. “I might be guilty of sharing or exposing too much of my private life, but to me the best albums are those that help people connect with an artist on a deep, human level and that do so without too much artifice or evasiveness.”

Leading up the album’s release, the band has debuted the effort’s opening track, “Bassem Sabry,” named after the late Egyptian activist and journalist.
