Okkervil River released a new album, Away, last year via ATO. Previously the band had shared the album’s first single, “Okkervil River R.I.P.,” as well as its video. That was followed by a video for “The Industry,” a song that seemed to commenting on the declining state of the music industry, a NSFW video for “Judey on a Street,” and a video for “Call Yourself Renee.” Now the band has shared a video for “Mary On a Wave.” Okkervil River frontman Will Sheff directed the video, which features a feral child shooting arrows at businessmen in suits in the forest, intercut with overlapping lo-fi images of the band members performing the song. And then there’s a goldfish. It’s a strange video to be sure. Watch it below, followed by the band’s upcoming tour dates, including some special trio shows they’ve just announced.
A press release describes the video as such: “Filmed on location in an abandoned farm colony on Staten Island, the clip follows a small boy on a strange journey as he resists corporate temptation to become closer to nature and his true self.”
The band’s tour dates include some shows as a trio featuring Will Sheff (vocals, guitar), Will Graefe (vocals, guitar), and Ben Lazar-Davis (vocals, bass). These will be the first shows the band has ever done as a trio and will take place in “unusually small rooms,” according to the press release.
