Paul Dano Cast As Young Brian Wilson in Upcoming Biopic

Paul Dano, the young character actor known for his standout roles in Little Miss Sunshine, There Will Be Blood, and last year’s Ruby Sparks, has been cast as the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson in an upcoming biopic of the music icon.
According to The Hollywood Reporter the film, titled Love and Mercy, will be directed by Bill Phlad. In talks to provide the score will be Atticus Ross, best known for his frequent collaborations with Nine Inch Nails leader Trent Reznor (the two won an Academy Award for their work on The Social Network). The film has also obtained the rights to use music from The Beach Boys.
Love and Mercy is scripted by writer Oren Moverman, the man responsible for the experimental role-playing Bob Dylan biopic I’m Not There.
As the movie is set to cover several decades of Wilson’s life and career, Phlad has yet to choose an actor that will take on the older version of legendary songwriter. The film is tentatively scheduled to start filming this summer.
