Doctor Who
Director Peter Jackson clearly has a lot on his plate these days, what with completing another Middle-Earth related trilogy, but it’s certainly not stopping the Academy Award-winning filmmaker from offering his services in the name of Doctor Who. NME reports that Jackson has made an offer to direct an episode of the popular sci-fi series after star Matt Smith starting lobbying New Zealand as a place to shoot. In a recent interview with the Waikato Times Jackson said, “I’m a huge Doctor Who fan, and I think Matt’s fantastic. Just name a time and place, and I’ll be there!’”
Smith and Jackson had previously met each other at San Diego’s Comic-Con festival this past July. Smith said, “[It] was very exciting to meet someone of his credence and calibre, a wonderful film-maker, and he mentioned that he enjoyed the show, so I was absolutely thrilled to hear that.’‘
As evidence of Jackson’s personal fandom, he hired the seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy for a role in The Hobbit, and he even owns McCoy’s costume from the show.
