Porcelain Raft
On October 19 Under the Radar will host a free CMJ day party sponsored by PRS Guitars. Leading up to the event we’re letting you know about each artist playing. Today we’re spotlighting Porcelain Raft.
In a previous post we gave you the basic party details of the party: The party happens from 12:30-5:40 at Public Assembly (70 North 6th Street) and is free and open to the public (21+), no badges or RSVP required. The event features performances from Eleanor Friedberger, Still Corners, The Stepkids, Casiokids, and Chad Valley. Come early, Keds is giving away 10 pairs of shoes, and PRS Guitars is giving away a custom Under the Radar logo guitar and Sweet 16 amp. MotormouthMedia is also a sponsor.
Performing under the guise Porcelain Raft, Rome native Mauro Remiddi has already self-released three critically lauded EPs (Collection of Porcelain, Gone Blind, and Curve) as well as numerous downloadable singles available on his website. Utilizing a mix of loop stations, samplers, distortions, and delays as a backdrop to his fuzzy pop melodies and sweet vocal delivery, Remiddi’s cracking psychedelia feels like the sound of someone passively moving through a powerfully dark place. Earlier this year Porcelain Raft signed to Secretly Canadian and the label will be releasing his debut album.
You can read our Winter 2011 Issue interview with Remiddi here and check out the MP3 for “Amateur’s Feeling” below as well as the videos for songs “Despite Everything” and “After The Weather.”
