Brighton-based electronic group Fujiya and Miyagi have returned with a video for their new single “Flashback,” the title track off of their forthcoming album, and we are pleased to premiere it. The video features the group moving around their studio being double exposed and evolving into tracers as the propulsive beat of the song unearths new layers of rubbery and glistening grooves. The album is due out May 31 via Impossible Objects of Desire. Check out the video and album art, as well as their tour dates, below.
The video marks vocalist David Best’s directorial debut. In a statement to Under the Radar, Best had this to say about the video: “The video shares its themes with the song, specifically the ability of certain memories, often from childhood, to visit you involuntarily. The stretching of the elastic band ties the past to the present through my son and myself. The different layers of the same person moving in the same frame suggest different memories colliding in one moment.”
