Premiere: Jesper Kyd “Silent Ambush” from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla OST

Lakeshore Records & Ubisoft will digitally release 47-track album on November 13

Nov 02, 2020

Ahead of the release of the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed video game series, we’re excited to debut a track by Jesper Kyd for the upcoming sequel Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

The game itself will land on PC and consoles on November 10, with the soundtrack album arriving digitally from Lakeshore Records and Ubisoft just a few short days later, on November 13.

The ominous “Silent Ambush,” which builds intensity over three minutes, straddles a balance between being calming, yet highly sinister. It could soothe the nerves, or easily fray them—it depends, we guess, on which side of the ambush you’re on:

“’Silent Ambush’ plays once you get close to your main target,” Kyd explains. “I wanted to evoke a calm, almost Zen-like feeling, providing a stark contrast and counterpoint to the intensity of nearly completing a mission. My goal for this music is to inspire a more stealthy approach; I call this ‘interior mindset’ music. It’s an immersive style I have previously explored in my music and continue to evolve for scoring stealth gameplay. With a focus on stealth returning in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla I was delighted to have the opportunity to write this type of music for the Assassin’s Creed series again.”

Danish composer Jesper Kyd is the BAFTA-winning musician behind many of this era’s best-known AAA titles, including Borderlands 3, State of Decay, and Hitman. He’s been composing for the Assassin’s Creed franchise since the original game, released all the way back in 2007.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla –Original Game Soundtrack also features Sarah Schachner and Einar Selvik. You can presave it here.

In this latest installment of the Assassin’s Creed series, players will be able to travel back to the time of Vikings, participating in raids, building settlements, and growing their influence over neighboring clans. For a full list of platforms the game will release on, you can head to Ubisoft’s website for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
