Brooklyn-based indie rockers Looms have shared a new track, “Once Known,” off of their forthcoming album The Way Up, due out May 3 via Good Eye, and we are pleased to premiere it. The track is a forceful stomper with a lush push-pull dynamic that calls to mind the angst and melodicism of Modest Mouse. Check out the track and album art below.

On the making of the track, frontman Sharif Mekawy had this to say: “This was my last chance song. I had so many back and forths with my ex, to the point that I once cut all communication for several months, only to eventually fall back into the familiar. I thought that we might have one last shot to work it all out. In the midst of that huge unknown, this came out.”

The Way Up marks Looms’ third full length, coming after their 2017 release How It Has To Be. The album features a guest appearance by Nels Cline of Wilco on guitar.
