Premiere: Mew - “Making Friends” Video
Imaginary Friends and Italian Horror
Nov 24, 2015
Mew
After a lengthy absence from recording, Copenhagen’s Mew returned this year with their sixth studio LP, +-. Today, we’re premiering the otherworldly, visually inventive video for album cut “Making Friends.” Connecting with us via email, vocalist Jonas Bjerre shared some thoughts about the clip, which is strikingly poised between hypnagogic bliss and surrealistic nightmare:
“The video is inspired by copper lithographs, imaginary friends, and Italian horror movie posters from the 70’s. The backgrounds, although hardly recognizable, are shot in a multitude of places that our travels have taken us in the past year, from Tromsø in Norway, to Incheon in South Korea, to the Mojave Desert in California.”
