Premiere: The New Pornographers “High Ticket Attractions” Behind-the-Scenes Video

Also Share Title Single from Forthcoming Album Whiteout Conditions

Mar 24, 2017 The New Pornographers

The New Pornographers are bursting back with their seventh album Whiteout Conditions. The supergroup from Vancouver released its first video for ““High Ticket Attractions,”, which featured bizzarly fantastic footage of all out destructive mayhem at a high school, and Under the Radar has an exclusive behind the scenes video. The making serendipitously coincided with the plans for a school demolition, so director Dan Huiting (Bon Iver, Sylvan Esso) got together with lead singer A.C. Newman to figure out how to film a student upheaval. Check out the fun below.

Huiting notes, “I have always wanted to wreck things in music videos, I just never thought I would get a chance to destroy an entire high school!”

The band also premiered the title track off their forthcoming full-length record today. Whiteout Conditions is out April 7th and promises to dazzle as the first release on the band’s own Collected Works Records imprint in partnership with Concord Records.

Of writing the new record, founder and frontman A.C. Newman notes that, “At the beginning of this record, there was some thinking that we wanted it to be like a Krautrock Fifth Dimension. Of course, our mutated idea of what Krautrock is probably doesn’t sound like Krautrock at all. But we were thinking: Let’s try and rock in a different way…it felt like sometimes it was very clear: oh, this is a fast one with me singing, and then the next would be a slow song with Neko (Case) singing. And I’ve always liked that in a White Album kind of way — being a band that just does whatever the hell they want from track to track…But when we did Brill Bruisers (the band’s previous album, released in 2014), it was the first time where I thought: Let’s try to make a cohesive record. Let’s try to give it a sound and see how focused we can make it. And on this record, I think we went a lot farther down that road.”

Along with all of this comes news of their upcoming tour. Check out the dates are below. Much is afoot for The New Pornographers.
