MENT Premiere: Širom – “Ne Razumem Modernega Sveta (The Modern World is Beyond My Grasp)”
Fest Goes Down Feb 1-3 in Ljubljana, Slovenia

MENT 2017
MENT Festival kicks off today in Ljubljana, Slovenia and we are here for it. (No really…we’re actually in Slovenia.) Capping off our festival preview coverage is a remix from Slovenia’s own Širom, who tweaked their single “Ne Razumem Modernega Sveta (The Modern World is Beyond My Grasp)” in honor of the occasion. There’s also an accompanying poem.
“The piece ‘The Modern World is Beyond My Grasp’ was composed and performed on 5 January 2017,” says the band of their work. “The poem was created during the same evening via a collective effort in a partly uncontrolled fashion after the recording just made was listened to once.”
Listen/read below. If you’re hanging with us at the festival you can grab any last minute information you might need here. You can also revisit our MENT mixtape series here.
The modern world is beyond my grasp
Play boundlessly from within,
What is true and what is not you forget,
A dog rose cur hurting there,
Passion, severed cords,
They thrust into me tangibly,
The festival rattles like a snake.
The snakes they crawl away,
I drink into oblivion,
An explanation, now I know!
I have no home, where to now?
Almost wakefulness.
An emotional grass watchman:
“A knife, angry! Running”,
“It is you I feed!”,
The epicenter is sweeping,
After all, the white lake is thawing,
About the paper, not ready yet!, persisting.
A new looping,
Nice patterns weaving strength,
I sugar space,
A brimmed over cup among the dots,
The galaxy’s red hair.
A box raining down in a cave,
A question flying over bridges is almost a bang,
An unemployed garden resounds.
I don’t like things to be in place,
Laughter buzzing during play,
It is howling in me from swarming,
From the merry-go-round, the floor plan,
The roots of value,
Tribal laughter falling away.
