Taken from Arts & Crafts: X Compilation, Out Tomorrow

TR/ST
The Canadian record label Arts & Crafts is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Its most notable act is perhaps Broken Social Scene, whose Kevin Drew co-founded the label with Jeffrey Remedios. In honor of the anniversary, tomorrow the label is releasing the Arts & Crafts: X compilation. Today we have the privilege of premiering a stream of one of the album’s tracks. Arts & Crafts labelmates, and fellow Canucks, Gold & Youth and Trust have teamed up for a cover of Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra’s “Lady Bird,” with Gold & Youth’s Louise Burns taking the Nancy part and Trust’s Robert Alfons doing Lee’s vocals.
Arts & Crafts: X features10 tracks, each one a collaboration between a different Arts & Crafts artist. Some are covers (Apostle of Hustle and Zeus doing New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle,” for example) and others are original compositions. Broken Social Scene, Feist, The Hidden Cameras, The Darcys, Stars, Jason Collett, Ra Ra Riot, and others are involved. Here’s the full tracklist:
Broken Social Scene x Years - Day of the Kid
Apostle Of Hustle x Zeus - Bizarre Love Triangle
Feist x Timber Timbre - Homage
Still Life Still x Zulu Winter - Era
The Hidden Cameras x Snowblink - The Chauffeur
The Darcys x Ra Ra Riot - Time Can Be Overcome
Chilly Gonzales x Stars - Nothing Good Comes to Those Who Wait
Hayden x Jason Collett - Lonely Is As Lonely Does
Gold & Youth x Trust - Lady Bird
Amy Millan x Dan Mangan - Chances Are
Gold & Youth and Trust both trade in dark synth sounds indebted to the ‘80s and are thus a perfect match. They collaborated on the track remotely, over the Internet. Gold & Youth played one of Under the Radar‘s SXSW parties this year and just released their debut album, Beyond Wilderness. Trust’s debut, TRST, was released last year and was one of Under the Radar‘s Top 100 albums of 2012. They also played both one of Under the Radar‘s SXSW 2012 events and our 2012 stage at The Great Escape festival in Brighton, England.
