Aug 08, 2019 The Telescopes By Stephen Axeman

British noise-rockers The Telescopes have returned with a new A-side, “Strange Waves,” off of their forthcoming 12” of the same name, due out September 6 via Fuzz Club. We are pleased to premiere it. The track is a squalling surge of feedback that gently nestles on top of a plodding rhythm section that gives the impression that the track is infinite. Overly barely audible vocals, frontman Stephen Lawrie intones with subtle melodicism. Check out the track, as well as some tour dates below.

Stephen Lawrie’s statement to Under the Radar reads as follows: “The Telescopes are more a revolution of the psyche than the sidewalk. Question everything.”

The band’s debut LP Taste is also set to get a reissue from London-based label Fuzz Club later this year, marking the album’s 30th anniversary.
