Just a Girl And Her Horse
May 20, 2013
Tôg
In the new video for Tôg cut “Når me våkne opp imårå,” a young girl bonds with her favorite horse in a way our daredevil younger selves would have never dreamed of. Read the director’s statement and check out our North American premiere below. You can also revisit the previous offering from Tôg here.
“I’m very fascinated by sports that are not necessarily that big, but create their own worlds and aesthetics,” says director Andreas Grødtlien. “I met Sofie (the girl in the video) when I was casting for another project and she told me about this sport she used to practice as a kid, which was voltige, and I immediately felt like doing something on this. When Tôg asked if we wanted to do a video I was working on a story about all kinds of things that drives people, different types of motivation, and I realized merging these ideas would fit the lyrics and themes Lars Christian was talking about. Voltige proved to be the perfect backdrop for this kind of story with the running in endless circles, their ribbons and prize cups and being a sport using a live animal.”
