Prince Has Died
The 57-year-old Was Found Dead at His House This Morning
Apr 21, 2016 Prince
Prince has died. TMZ reports that the 57-year-old music icon was found dead this morning at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota. This was also confirmed by a statement from his publicist. The cause of death is unknown at this time, but last week (on April 15) Prince was on a flight home from Atlanta when the pilot had to make an emergency landing to take Prince to hospital, reportedly because he had the flu. But he performed at a concert the next day. Prince did recently cancel two shows due to health concerns.
Prince Rogers Nelson was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota June 7, 1958. In the course of career he had released 39 studio albums and became a worldwide star in the 1980s with such albums as Controversy, 1999, Sign o’ the Times, and Purple Rain. The latter was a soundtrack to a film of the same name that he also starred in. His numerous ‘80s hit singles include “1999,” “Little Red Corvette,” “When Doves Cry,” “Let’s Go Crazy,” “Purple Rain,” “I Would Die 4 U,” “Raspberry Beret,” and “Kiss.” He ended the decade with 1989’s soundtrack to Tim Burton’s Batman film. The ‘90s saw Prince battle with his record label Warner Bros. and temporarily change his name in protest, at first to a symbol representing love and then to “The Artist Formerly Known as Prince.” He continued to make music and tour up until his death, releasing two albums just last year: HITnRUN Phase One and HITnRUN Phase Two. Below is a selection of his videos.
