In an interview with BBC 6 Music, the members of Prince‘s band 3rdEyeGirl revealed that Prince will be releasing a brand new album. It will be titled The Hit & Run Album, named in reference to Prince’s recent pop-up concerts that are announced and performed in the same day, and will include the previously shared single “HARDROCKLOVER.” No release date was specified, but 3rdEyeGirl (Donna Grantis, Ida Nielsen, and Hannah Ford Welton) collectively said it would be out “soon.”

They called it “phenomenal” and “super experimental,” adding that “there are so many hits on this album.”

“Super hardcore Prince fans that know every song he’s ever recorded - we refer to them as ‘The Purple Collective’ or ‘The Purple Army’ - this album is absolutely for them, because it’s super funky,” they went on to say. “It’s weird, there’s a lot of experimental sound. It’s just hit after hit and definitely caters to those fans who just love to hear what Prince has to say, rather than wanting to always hear that classic Purple Rain Prince sound.”

The Hit & Run album will also feature a version of “1,000 Hugs and Kisses,” an unreleased song that dates back to the Diamonds and Pearls era, as well as a new version of “This Could Be Us,” the original which appeared on last year’s Art Official Age album. No word as to whether or not it’ll include the recent single “Baltimore” as well. Check out “HARDROCKLOVER” below again, followed again by the “Baltimore” video we posted earlier in the week.
