Russian political punks Pussy Riot have announced a new three-song EP entitled xxx that is due out tomorrow. They have also shared a new video for one of its tracks, “Make America Great Again,” which features music by Ricky Reed. As you might have guessed from its title, the song is a statement about Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and the video, as a press release explains, “imagines a dystopian future in which Donald Trump has assumed the US Presidency.” Jonas Akerlund directed the video, in which martial law is instituted by a Trump police force and immigrants are literally branded as “outsiders,” gays and lesbians are branded as “pervert,” and women with small breasts are forced to get boob jobs. It’s one of the strongest anti-Trump statements we’ve seen from a musician yet. It’s pretty damn dark and if Trump does win, let’s hope it doesn’t all go down like this! (Which obviously it won’t, but still…)
The band has also released two other videos this week, for the EP’s other two tracks: “Straight Outta Vagina” (feat. Desi Mo and Leikeli47) and “Organs,” with both songs produced by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek. Watch all three videos below, followed by the EP’s tracklist.
xxx Tracklist:
1. Make America Great Again
2. Straight Outta Vagina (feat. Desi Mo and Leikeli47)
3. Organs
