Whitney Houston
Sometimes you hope it’s just an Internet hoax. Sadly tonight’s announcement is true: Whitney Houston has passed away at the age of 48.
As reported by The LA Times, the big-voiced singer died at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. She was scheduled to attend Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party at the hotel. The cause of her death has not been disclosed.
Houston’s death is likely to make an impact on tomorrow’s Grammy ceremony. The only artist to chart seven consecutive No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits, Houston went on to net over 415 awards over the course of her career.
Houston was also a noted actress, performing in such films as Waiting to Exhale, The Preacher’s Wife, and Cinderella. In 1992 she stared in The Bodyguard. She also performed its theme song, a cover of Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the singer’s family and friends.
