Bohemian Rhapsody, a movie about the iconic 1970s and ‘80s rock band Queen, has been in development for eight years. The band’s Brian May and Roger Taylor are involved in the project, but they’ve had trouble finding the perfect actor to play the late frontman Freddie Mercury. Previously Borat and Ali G himself, Sacha Baron Cohen, was cast in the role, but he left the project earlier this year due to creative differences. Now it looks like they’ve found their new Freddie: Rami Malek, the star of USA Networks’ acclaimed hacker drama Mr. Robot has landed the role, reports The Guardian. Malek won the Best Actor Emmy this year for his performance as Elliot Alderson in Mr. Robot. Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects, Superman Returns, various X-Men movies) is in talks to direct a script by Anthony McCarten (The Theory of Everything), with filming to commence early next year. Below is the original video for “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
