Brooklyn-based indie rocker Daffo (AKA Gabi Gamberg) has unleashed their latest single “Absence Makes the Heart Grow,” a visceral collaboration with acclaimed producer Rob Schnapf, known for his work with Elliott Smith, Beck, and Cat Power. The track showcases Gamberg’s signature blend of infectious grunge and blistering guitar work, while diving deep into the emotional wreckage of a long-distance relationship.

It marks a powerful evolution for Gamberg, who first picked up the guitar at age 9 in the Philadelphia suburbs. After cutting their teeth in the DIY scene playing basement shows and backyard gigs, they went on to study at NYU’s prestigious Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. Their profile rose dramatically after a spontaneous bedroom performance of ‘The Experiment’ went viral on TikTok, leading to the release of their sophomore EP Pest.

Gamberg brings their characteristic raw honesty to “Absence Makes the Heart Grow,” exploring themes of shame, self-loathing, and mental turbulence with poetic precision. The collaboration with Schnapf adds a new dimension to Daffo’s sound, elevating their emotionally charged songwriting with professional polish while maintaining the authentic energy that has earned them a devoted following in Brooklyn’s DIY scene.
