Robyn released a new album, Honey, her first in eight years, back in October 2018 via Konichiwa/Interscope. Now she has shared a video for “Ever Again.” Colin Solal Cardo directed the clip, which was choreographed by Maria ‘Decida’ Wahlberg. It features Robyn performing the song on a soundstage decked out with classic sculptures. In a press release Robyn calls the world of the video “a dreamy place, somewhere undefined, somewhere in my unconsciousness.” In the video Robyn wears a Louis Vuitton outfit designed by Nicholas Ghesquière especially for the production. Watch it below, followed by Robyn’s upcoming tour dates.
Honey includes “Missing U,” a new song (and accompanying short film) she shared in August (it was one of our Songs of the Week). An earlier version of the album’s title track, “Honey,” appeared in the series finale of HBO’s Girls last year and then she shared the final version of the song as the album’s second single. Robyn fans had been eager for her to release the song ever since its Girls debut, with some using the hashtag #ReleaseHoneyDamnit. Then she shared the third single from the album, “Human Being,” which features Zhala. Then she shared a video for “Honey,” as well as a video for “Between the Lines” directed Cody Critcheloe (aka SSION).
Honey is the follow-up to 2010’s Body Talk. The album finds the Swedish musician teaming up Joseph Mount (of Metronomy) and also features production work from long-time collaborator Klas Åhlund, along with Adam Bainbridge (aka Kindness), Mr. Tophat, and Zhala. It was recorded in studios in Stockholm, London, Paris, New York, and Ibiza.
Robyn had this to say about the album in a previous press release: “This sweet place, like a very soft ecstasy. Something that’s so sensual, and so good. I danced a lot when I was making it. I found a sensuality and a softness that I don’t think I was able to use in the same way before. Everything just became softer.”
