Sally Shapiro Break-up, Share One Last Single, “If You Ever Wanna Change Your Mind”
Final Single Due Out May 12 on Fika
Apr 28, 2016 Sally Shapiro
Swedish duo Sally Shapiro (the project of producer Johan Agebjörn and an anonymous singer who goes under the name Sally Shapiro) have decided to call it a day. But before they do so, they are releasing one last single, “If You Ever Wanna Change Your Mind,” which you can stream below. It will be released as a white 7-inch single on May 12 via Fika, with the B-side being an acoustic cover of David Guetta’s “Dangerous.” The A-side was co-written by Roger Gunnarsson and co-produced by Mitch Murder and will also feature on a forthcoming Sally Shapiro compilation on Paper Bag.
In a press release the duo explained their break-up: “Our musical tastes don’t overlap that much anymore. Johan is more into ‘90s-style electronica these days, and Sally is into non-electronic pop. In three years, we’ve only managed to record these two songs as Sally Shapiro, so with this single we have decided to call our musical project a day, and we would like to thank everyone who followed us on this journey.”
The Italo disco duo garnered acclaim and attention from music blogs with the release of their 2006 debut album, Disco Romance, and followed that up with two other albums, 2009’s My Guilty Pleasure and 2013’s Somewhere Else. Revisit our 2009 interview with them.
With a final single titled “If You Ever Wanna Change Your Mind,” however, perhaps one day Sally Shapiro will return?
