Spoon’s Britt Daniel Talks Start of Third Band
Readies New Spoon Material
Aug 03, 2012 Divine Fits
Despite being currently occupied with his new side project Divine Fits, Spoon frontman Britt Daniel has revealed in an interview with Exclaim that he has plans for yet another new band consisting of himself, Jon Wurster (Superchunk/Mountain Goats), and Jason Narducy (Telekinesis/Guided By Voices).
Unlike Divine Fits, Daniel says he’ll be taking more of a supporting role in the group. “It’s basically Jason’s songs, Jason singing,” he says. “We’re backing him up.”
Tentatively named Split of Evil (Daniel admits that Narducy may end up changing the name), the trio will begin recording a record later this year.
In addition to the new musical pairings, Daniel says Spoon is still his main focus and that new “songs are in the works ... I’ll finish up with this, and we’ll get back together again.”
Divine Fits’ debut LP A Thing Called the Divine Fits arrives Aug. 28th via Merge Records.
