St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark) has released a new album, MassEducation, today via Loma Vista. It is a stripped down version of her last album, 2017’s MASSEDUCTION. The album was recorded in two days and just features Clark on vocals and Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman) on piano. Now that the album is out, you can stream the whole thing below.
She has also shared a live video of her performing “Savior,” accompanied by Bartlett on piano, live at The Belasco in Los Angeles. It’s a fantastic performance, with Bartlett plucking the inside of the piano at first. Comedian/actor/director Bobcat Goldthwait directed the video, which you can watch below.
MassEducation‘s title is amusing, as many mistakenly thought that was the title of MASSEDUCTION. Previously St. Vincent shared the MassEducation version of “Savior.”
In the handwritten note Clark described the recording of the album as “two dear friends playing songs together with the kind of secret understanding one can only get through endless nights in New York City.”
Clark also wrote: “We neither rehearsed nor spoke about how to approach any song, but rather, played two to three live takes, picked the best one, and trusted in the feeling of the moment.”
MASSEDUCTION was released in October 2017 via Loma Vista. It was one of our Top 100 Albums of 2017. Back in June she shared “Fast Slow Disco,” a new, more dance floor ready version of the album’s delicate string backed track “Slow Disco.” Then last week she shared a third version of “Slow Disco” that took it in the other direction, to a more stripped down, piano-backed sound. It was fittingly titled “Slow Slow Disco” and that appears to be the version from MassEducation, although in the official tracklist its just titled “Slow Disco.”
“Fast Slow Disco” was one of our Songs of the Week, she performed it on Later… with Jools Holland, and also shared a video for the track.

Most instrument repair “schools”, are short 2–15 day courses, get a couple of those under your belt first, and then you will have an easier time finding an apprenticeship. If you take a look at the piano store boston you will understand why this is hard. The economy simply isn’t what it was 50 years ago, and payroll expenses take up a much bigger pie of the average small business. Without any experience or education, a shop that is willing to bring you on and pay you will be hard to find.
