Stereolab Announces New Album
Frontwoman Laetitia Sadier's Solo LP Also Coming Soon
Jun 02, 2010
Stereolab
Stereolab announced after the conclusion of the Chemical Chords tour last year that they’d be going on an indefinite hiatus, in rather hilarious fashion it might be added, as manager Martin Pike stated that their work was done since Amazon anointed Emperor Tomato Ketchup the number 51 indie rock album of all-time. But prior to that, the band had hinted that there were ample leftovers from that album’s sessions, then described as Chemical Chords 2, tracks too dark to fit into the mold of Chords, but nonetheless worthy of release. And now the band have announced the details of this album, newly titled Not Music (but we’re hoping it is music), due November 16 on Drag City on both CD and double LP.
And the group’s frontwoman Laetitia Sadier has kept busy in the wake of the band’s protracted break, taking the time to record an as yet untitled LP due in September on Drag City. Tracks that could potentially show up on that record can be found at Sadier’s MySpace page.
