Stereolab’s Tim Gane to Release Cavern of Anti-Matter Album Featuring Bradford Cox, Shares Song
void beats / invocation trex Due Out February 19, Listen to “Melody in High Feedback Tones”
Nov 19, 2015 Cavern of Anti-Matter
Stereolab’s co-founder Tim Gane has teamed up with synth player Holger Zapf and former Stereolab drummer Joe Dillworth to form a new trio named Cavern of Anti-Matter. They will be releasing their debut album, void beats / invocation trex, on February 19 via Duophonic. It features such special guests as Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox, Mouse on Mars’ Jan St. Werner, and Spacemen 3’s Sonic Boom. Below you can listen to “Melody in High Feedback Tones,” which is very Stereolab-sounding (not that we’re complaining).
Gane had this to say about the project in a press release: “Cavern of Anti-Matter are spectrum addicts, setting up tiny rhythmic cells and expanding on them in certain ways, splitting the melody and stretching out. The melodic movement is much slower due to the lack of words. At the moment, the Cavern sound is more what I want to do.”
Below also is the album’s tracklist. The first song’s title is a Doctor Who reference, which is a good sign. Following all that is another, older, song by the band, “Blood-Drums.”
void beats / invocation trex Tracklist:
1. tardis cymbals
2. blowing my nose under close observation

5. hi-hats bring the hiss
6. liquid gate
7. pantechnicon
8. black glass action
9. planetary folklore
10. echolalia
