“Stranger Things” Season 2 Premiere Date Announced; New Teaser, Poster, and Synopsis Shared
The Show Returns to Netflix This Halloween
Jul 11, 2017 Stranger Things
The official premiere date of season 2 of Netflix’s acclaimed show Stranger Things has been announced. And a new teaser trailer for the season has also been shared. It was previously announced that the show would be back this Halloween and now that’s been confirmed as October 27. A new teaser trailer doesn’t show off any real footage from the new season, but is creepy none-the-less. Watch it below. Above is a new poster for the season.
Netflix has also shared a new synopsis for the second season’s plot: “It’s 1984 and the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana are still reeling from the horrors of the demagorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab. Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived.”
Stranger Things became a culture phenomenon and was one of the most talked about new TV shows of 2016. It was Under the Radar’s #1 TV show of 2016 and won the Screen Actors Guild award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Netflix previously announced that the show was returning in 2017 and last August shared a teaser trailer that didn’t show off any actual footage from season 2. Back in February, during the Super Bowl, an ad for the new season aired, essentially its first real trailer, that showed off footage and announced that the show would be back this Halloween. Season 1 took place in 1983 and last year’s teaser promised: “In the Fall of 1984… The Adventure Continues.”
Stranger Things was created by the Duffer Brothers (Matt and Ross Duffer) and stars Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, Joe Keery, Cara Buono, Sadie Sink, Dacre Montgomery, and Matthew Modine. It is inspired by such ‘80s classics as Poltergeist, E.T., and The Goonies. Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein of the Austin-based synthesizer band S U R V I V E composed the show’s John Carpenter-esque score.
