Last month musical artist Sam Beam announced the release of several archival Iron & Wine recordings, with the first installment, Archive Series Volume No. 1, due out next week on Feb. 24.
Featuring tracks captured during the sessions that produced Iron & Wine’s 2002 debut The Creek Drank the Cradle, the whole 16-song compilation has been made available to stream online via Billboard.
“Over the years some of [the songs] have gotten out of the Internet and people have showed interest,” Beam explained in an interview with the magazine. “And putting out another record like that now, it seems like there’s been enough time so that it sounds significantly different than what I’ve been doing these past few years. It feels more like a time capsule or a diary entry. The distance makes it more fun.”
