Various albums due out next Friday, January 22, are now streaming over at NPR First Listen, including the new albums by Eleanor Friedberger, Ty Segall, Shearwater, and The Besnard Lakes. All can be streamed below

Eleanor Friedberger of The Fiery Furnaces is releasing her new solo album, New View, via Frenchkiss. Previously she had shared the album’s first single, “He Didn’t Mention His Mother,” as well as its video, followed by the video for “Sweetest Girl.” New View is Friedberger’s first album for Frenchkiss. A press release previously said that the album is inspired by some of Friedberger’s musical heroes, including Van Morrison, Neil Young, George Harrison, Slapp Happy, Yoko Ono, and Elyse. Friedberger’s last full-length was 2013’s Personal Record.

Ty Segall is releasing his new album, Emotional Mugger, via Drag City. It was announced when Segall sent videotapes of the album to music journalists.

Canada’s The Besnard Lakes are releasing a brand new album, A Coliseum Complex Museum, via Jagjaguwar. We’ve already been treated to “Golden Lion” and both the audio and video for “The Plain Moon.” A Coliseum Complex Museum is the follow-up to 2013’s fantastic Until in Excess, Imperceptible UFO, which received its share of critical acclaim but was still criminally underappreciated/under-heard in our opinion. The Besnard Lakes lineup is still anchored by founding members and husband and wife team Jace Lasek (guitars/vocals) and Olga Goreas (vocals/bass), along with long-term drummer Kevin Laing. For this album they are joined by Sheenah Ko (keys/vocals) and Robbie Macarthur (guitar). Previous guitarist Richard White still collaborates in the studio but no longer tours with the band.

Shearwater are releasing their new album, Jet Plane and Oxbow, on Sub Pop. It’s the ninth studio album by the indie-rock band led by Brooklyn-based songwriter, singer, and guitarist Jonathan Meiburg. Jet Plane and Oxbow includes some of the same musicians and guests of the excellent 2012 studio album Animal Joy and the 2013 covers album Fellow Travelers, including Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner, Jesca Hoop, drummer Cully Symington, guitarist Abram Shook, and multi-instrumentalists Howard Draper and Lucas Oswald. The album was produced by Danny Reisch with occasional sound design assistance from soundtrack composer Brian Reitzell (who scores all of Sofia Coppola’s films).
