Julianna Barwick is releasing a new album, Will, next Friday (May 6) via Dead Oceans. Now you can stream the whole album below via NPR First Listen.
Previously Barwick had shared a video for Will track “Nebula” and the audio for “Same.” Barwick recorded the album all over the place: a house in upstate New York, the Moog Factory in Asheville, North Carolina, and Lisbon, Portugal. Will includes contributions from Thomas Arsenault (Mas Ysa), Dutch cellist Maarten Vos, and percussionist Jamie Ingalls (Chairlift, Tanlines, Beverly). “While making this record, there were moments of isolation and dark currents,” Barwick says in a press release. “I like exploring that, and I love when I come across songs that sound scary or ominous. I’ve always been curious about what goes into making a song that way.”
