Sufjan Stevens released his acclaimed album Carrie & Lowell in 2015. Now he has announced a corresponding live album and concert film, Carrie & Lowell Live. It was announced today (March 31) because it’s the birthday of Lowell Brams, the Lowell of the album’s title who is also Stevens’ stepfather and co-founder of Stevens’ Asthmatic Kitty label, and it’s also the two-year anniversary of the album’s release. Carrie & Lowell Live was recorded on November 9, 2015 at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center in South Carolina and the audio will be available digitally on April 28, with the video available on YouTube and Vimeo. It includes a cover of Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” performed with Gallant. Last year Stevens released video from the concert of him performing title track “Carrie & Lowell” and that is below, as is the album’s tracklist.
Stevens has also teamed up with Nico Muhly, Bryce Dessner (of The National), and James McAlister for a new collaborative album about space, Planetarium, which is due out June 9 via 4AD.
