New York trio Sunflower Bean have announced a new album, Twentytwo in Blue, and shared a new song, “Crisis Fest.” Twentytwo in Blue is due out March 2. It includes “I Was a Fool,” a song the band shared back in November. Below is “Crisis Fest,” followed by the album tracklist and cover art, as well as the band’s upcoming tour dates. Also below is the video for “I Was a Fool” again.
Sunflower released their debut album, Human Ceremony, on Fat Possum in 2016. “Crisis Fest” has a video as well, but it’s currently an Apple Music exclusive and can be watched over there.
The band issued this collective statement about “Crisis Fest”: “This last year was extremely alarming, traumatic, and politically volatile. While writing this album, we often reflected back on the people we met while on tour. We felt a strong kinship with the audiences that came to see us all over the country, and we wanted to write a song for them - something to capture the anxieties of an uncertain future. ‘Crisis Fest’ is less about politics and more about the power of us, the young people in this country.”
