Tegan and Sara to Guest Star in Issue 5 of New Archie Comic Book “The Archies”
The Canadian Band Will Interact With the Fictional Band
Nov 01, 2017

The Archies is a new comic book series that features Archie and his friends (Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and Reggie) in a band on tour. Most issues will feature a guest appearance by a different real life band. We’ve previously reported that Scottish electro-pop trio CHVRCHES will appear in issues #2 and #3, where they will mentor the band. Now the word is out that Canadian sister duo Tegan and Sara will appear in issue #5, as MTV News reports and the band confirms. Above is the cover of the issue (art by Greg Smallwood) and below are two variant covers (by Joe Eisma and Thomas Pitilli), as well as an Instagram post from Tegan and Sara.
The Archies comes from writers Alex Segura and Matt Rosenberg, with art by Eisma.
Segura had this to say to MTV News about having Tegan and Sara involved: “I love the mix of acts we’ve gotten to jam with the Archies, and Tegan and Sara are no exception. The fun part about writing this series is that the groups coming in get to meet the Archies at different points in their musical journey, and this issue will find the Archies at a major crossroads - one that might change the makeup of the band forever.”

Tegan and Sara recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of their album The Con with a tour and The Con X: Covers, an album out now (via Warner Bros) in which other artists cover each song on The Con, with all net proceeds going to the Tegan and Sara Foundation, which works in support of LGBTQ girls and women. The album includes CHVRCHES, Ryan Adams, Grimes and HANA, Hayley Williams of Paramore, Bleachers, Kelly Lee Owens, Shamir, Cyndi Lauper, Shura, and others all covering songs from the album.
