The Breeders Share First New Song in Eight Years – “Wait in the Car”
First Single With Classic Lineup Since 1993’s Last Splash
Oct 03, 2017 The Breeders
The Breeders have shared their first new song in eight years, “Wait in the Car.” But beyond that, this is the first song to feature the classic lineup since their beloved 1993 album, Last Splash. Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs, and Jim Macpherson reunited in 2013 for some shows honoring the 20th anniversary of Last Splash and have since been recording some new music. This is the first fruit of those sessions. The song is accompanied by a video directed by Chris Bigg and Martin Andersen and featuring 800 still images. Watch it below, followed by the band’s upcoming tour dates and the single’s cover art.
“Wait in the Car” will be released on vinyl via three different 7-inches, each with different B-sides. The first one will be pressed onto orange vinyl, will include a cover of Amon Düül II’s 1970 track “Archangel’s Thunderbird” (recorded with Steve Albini in Chicago), and will be available at the band’s upcoming tour dates, starting on October 15. The second one will be pressed on yellow vinyl, will feature a cover of Devo’s “Gates of Steel,” and will be released exclusively to independent record stores on October 27. The third 7-inch will be pressed on red vinyl, will feature Kim Deal’s cover of Mike Nesmith’s “Joanne,” and will be released later in the year (exact details TBA). Each 7-inch is limited to 1,500 copies worldwide.
