The Dodos Announce New Album, “Carrier”
Out Aug. 27
May 15, 2013 The Dodos
Following their teaser video released earlier this month, San Francisco duo The Dodos have officially announced the release of their fifth full-length album, Carrier. Scheduled for release on Aug. 27 on the band’s new label Polyvinyl the recording of the LP was greatly impacted by the sudden death of Women guitarist Christopher Reimer, who had toured as part of The Dodos in 2011. “Chris was a huge influence on the way I think about guitar, songwriting, and music in general,” says singer/guitarist Meric Long. “Seeing how he could transform and shape sound with an electric guitar inspired me to explore more tones and use those tones to begin writing a song.”
Working on the new material, Long began writing the lyrics before the music for the first time. When it came time to wrap instrumentation around the words he did so with an electric guitar instead of naturally turning to his acoustic one.
Down below you’ll find the album’s tracklist, as well as a stream of the included track “Confidence.”
