The Flaming Lips Share Cover of “Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy” Mash-Up via a Video
In Homage to David Bowie and Bing Crosby
Dec 20, 2018
The Flaming Lips
The Flaming Lips have shared a cover of two holiday classics, “Peace on Earth” and “Little Drummer Boy,” which they have mashed up together. The track was shared via a strange video that features most the band in strange makeup and alien outfits, all except Steve Drozd for some reason, who is dressed fairly normally. The track is in homage to Bing Crosby and David Bowie, who also mashed up the two songs in 1977 as part of a TV special, Bing Crosby’s Merrie Olde Christmas, which was recorded just five weeks before Crosby’s death and broadcast after his passing. The Bowie/Crosby version was eventually released as a single in 1982. Watch both versions below.
