Jun 25, 2012 The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion By Mike Hilleary

New York rock group The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion have announced that they will release Meat and Bone on Sept. 18, the group’s first studio album in over eight years.

Coming off the heels of the group’s reissued Matador albums Extra Width, Orange, and Now I Got Worry, as well as their long out-of-print Pussy Galore catalog, the group’s new twelve-track collection of songs was produced and mixed by Spencer himself. “We still have that psychic glue that allows us to create music together,” says the frontman in an issued statement. “Over the course of a year touring and writing new songs and recording, we rediscovered our shared history as a band. We circled the wagons, and went back to our roots. In a way this is almost like another first album.”
